Blueway Arranmore Is Live

Blueway Arranmore Is Live

1st Aug 2026

Everything that was great about Seo Árainn Mhór, with a brand new look and an AI agent called Arry who knows the island inside out.

Blueway Arranmore is live on the App Store and Google Play today. It's the next chapter for the app that started life as Seo Árainn Mhór — the same island, the same community behind it, the same content people have been adding for years — under a new name, with a complete facelift, and with an AI agent called Arry along for the ride.

Meet Arry

Back in February we put an AI assistant for Árainn Mhór out as a beta, on its own website, to see what people would actually ask it. They asked plenty. Arry is what came out the other side, and this time the island's AI lives inside the app rather than off to one side of it.

Ask "What's on this week?" and Arry comes back with the East v West Townlands match on Saturday afternoon in Rannagh and the summer camps running Tuesday to Thursday in Leabgarrow — times, places and all. Ask where you can get a pint and you'll get Early's, Neily's, Teach Phil Bán and The Glen Hotel, each with a line on what the place is actually like, and the business cards underneath so you can tap straight through to the full page.

That last part is the bit we care about most. Arry isn't making anything up or reaching out to the wider web — it reads the same island data that powers every other screen in the app, added and kept current by the people who live there. When it tells you a pub does pizzas in high season, that's because someone on Árainn Mhór wrote it down.

A Complete Facelift

Every screen in the app has been rebuilt on a new design system. The home screen now leads with big bilingual tiles — Things To Do / Rudaí le Déanamh, Events Calendar / Féilire Imeachtaí, Food and Drink / Bia Agus Deoch, Transport / Iompar, Accommodation, Information & FAQ — so the thing you came for is one tap away rather than buried in a menu.

Underneath sits a five-way navigation bar: Home, Map, Search, Story and Profile. Arry rides along on a floating button, so wherever you are in the app you can just ask.

Irish and English sit side by side throughout, and there's a language switch and a light/dark toggle in the profile screen for anyone who wants to set it their own way. Signing in is optional — you only need an account if you want to contribute, save favourites or keep your own list.

Finding What You Want, Faster

The map is where the island opens up. Every place worth knowing about is pinned and colour-coded by category, and the filter lets you strip it back to just the thing you're after — somewhere to eat, somewhere to stay, something to do.

Search does the same job from the other direction, and it scans QR codes too, so a code on a sign at the pier or on a poster in a shop window drops you straight onto the right page. And if you can't decide, "I'm feeling lucky" will pick something for you.

The Technical Fun

A few things we cared about while building it:

The Next Chapter

Seo Árainn Mhór was always about connecting people with Árainn Mhór, whether you live there, go back every summer, or you're only finding it now. Blueway Arranmore is the same idea with the rough edges taken off — easier to move around, better looking, and with someone to ask when you don't know where to start.

Download it today and say hello to Arry, or have a look at bluewayarranmore.com and the web app if you'd rather browse from the mainland.
