Hi Sign

Hi Sign is a small utility mobile application that can be used to display text and emojis at full size on your mobile or tablet devices. Whether it's picking someone up from the airport, sharing notes silently across a room or showing answers over zoom, you can use the app to say Hi!.

• Now targeting Android 16 (API 36), ahead of the Google Play deadline on 31 August 2026
  • AGP and Kotlin went up with it - wakelock_plus wouldn't build against the old versions
  • 32 packages upgraded, package_info_plus across a major version
• Mulish is now bundled with the app rather than fetched by google_fonts
  • With no network the app couldn't load its typeface at all
  • Dropped the package entirely so a runtime fetch can't creep back in
• Fixed a layout overflow when coming back out of the sign view - the home page scrolls now
• Wide screens get a two column home - the sign text and the colour and mirror card sit side by side
  • Keyed off the available width, so it works in split screen and on foldables too. Android 16 ignores orientation locks on bigger screens
• Added a Maestro smoke test - home, composing a sign, the full screen view, exit and settings
• New upload_production fastlane lane to push an existing AAB up as a draft release without rebuilding it
• Bumped to 1.6.0+21 for release
• Tidied up CLAUDE.md, which had drifted from the code
